Then send your Barclays Premier League articles and match reports, of no more than 500 words, to barclaysfootballwriter@lexispr.com

Please note that you must be a UK resident between the age of 16 and 30 to enter. The competition closes on 5 March 2012. Click here for more details.

About the competition

Barclays Aspiring Football Writer Competition is a collaboration between Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League, and the Football Writers’ Association, which aims to provide up-and-coming UK writers with a taste of life as a top journalist reporting on the Barclays Premier League.

If you’re a budding football writer based in the UK then we’re looking for you! Submit your articles and match reports on the Barclays Premier League, and we’ll publish the best entries right here and on MailOnline, Britain’s leading newspaper website, every month.

You’ll also be able to check out tips and advice from some of the most celebrated football writers in the country, including The Sun’s Shaun Custis and The Times’ Matt Dickinson, by navigating to ‘Journalist videos’ above.

The judges will be looking out for the following qualities in the winning article:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Barclays Premier League football
  • Original and creative insight
  • Accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Clear and concise writing style within the limit of 500 words per article

Get writing now and you could win a press pass to a Barclays Premier League match and ONE WEEK’s work experience with MailOnline!

Prizes

The writer of the best article, as chosen by the competition’s panel of judges, will win a money-can’t-buy trip to a Barclays Premier League match at Manchester City, alongside a top football journalist. The prize will include:

  • 2 tickets to a Barclays Premier League match at Manchester City
  • Tour of the press gantry
  • First class rail travel to Manchester
  • One night’s accommodation in a four star hotel
  • And…ONE WEEK’s work experience at MailOnline!

Three runners-up will also win a meeting with a leading football journalist to get an insight into what it takes to make it in the industry, as well as being given Barclays Premier League merchandise.

Send your articles to barclaysfootballwriter@lexispr.com and check back regularly to find out if you’re in the running to win!
