And the final season has arrived. ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Part 4 ends Sabrina Spellman’s journey with the biggest battle yet.
In this part of Sabrina’s adventure, we are introduced to a new threat to Greendale: the Eldritch terrors brought to the town by Faustus Blackwood. The episodes follow the characters working together to stop the evil and save the day. Alongside this storyline, we, of course, have the typical teen drama! Relationships, dancing, and battling a supernatural creature or two. A day in the life of Sabrina Spellman.
Personally, I found that the storyline kept at the same pace throughout the season. Even though there was the anticipation once they had defeated one Eldritch terror, they would foreshadow the next, so the audience knew that an unknown, scarier enemy was coming. But Part 4 did miss a bit of the magic the show had in previous seasons. It could be the structure of the episodes, or knowing the end was coming, but it seemed that the show needed to hit all parts of the storyline in order to have such an effective ending.
Furthermore, we were introduced to a new set of characters. As Sabrina’s twin is sent off to a new cosmos, she ends up in the Endless, which manifests an extremely meta episode where she’s trapped in a sitcom alongside Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, who initially portrayed the roles of Sabrina’s aunts in the 1990s show ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’.
In conclusion, it was a bit of a tear-jerker ending so be prepared with tissues! Despite this, I do believe that there should have been more episodes to develop the concept a lot further and for romance storylines to develop.
