The 2nd March saw the return of the annual NME Awards at the O2 Academy in Brixton which saw an array of talented artists performing and picking up some prestigious awards.
Some of the acts to perform included Sam Fender, Rina Sawayama, and Chvrches with The Cure’s Robert Smith. The awards were hosted by rapper Lady Leshurr and actress/comedian Daisy May Cooper.
The best album is perhaps the most anticipated of any award ceremony and Sam Fender ended up taking home both best album awards. While ‘Seventeen Going Under’ certainly deserved the award, even Fender himself thought that Little Simz was snubbed in this category. There was some justice, however, with Simz winning best solo act in the UK.
The night saw a number of special awards celebrating artists in the music scene. These included a godlike genius award for FKA Twigs, songwriter award for Jack Antonoff and an innovation award that was handed to Halsey.
