Sweetness

who knows what the future brings?

Maybe i’ll buy a plant, maybe i’ll pack it all in

Memories, like drawings in steamed up glass

Linger

And I wonder if my hopes for us

Will one day also be ghosts

Images drawn in water

Fading

You walked up to me with gold and flowers in your hands

Vivid, ripening

The heat of the storm made us sweat

As we walked by the river

Whose cold mystery tempted us both secretly

To become like some latter-day adam and eve

Naked in the forest

Wind chimes in the mountains

Making music with the breeze

Firelight flickering off of shiny jungle leaves

Maybe we’ll take a trip

For mackenna’s ayauasca

Maybe you touch my waist

As we cook in the evening

Tapping out feet to the radio

I watched you ties those laces

I see you as you were that night

So close to me

Smiling every time our eyes  conspiratorially met

While cooking for your father

Our secret

A kiss

As if it were an immense dense sphere above us, pregnant

With understanding
